This year’s Swap-O-Rama-Rama was a ton of fun! Held at Urban Outfitters’ super stylin’ Corporate Office at the Naval Yard down in South Philly, there was plenty of space for everyone. Clothes could be dyed, silk screened or altered; there was a VIP section, a koi pond, a cafe and of course workshops on reusing materials. One table, hosted by the Hacktory focused on making jewelry from cyber-scraps and another, hosted by The Handwork Studio focused on making fabric bracelets. Handmade Philly led workshops on making Monster Pins and Fabric Collage Pins. Many members came out to lend their assistance: Allison Ostertag- www.allisonostertag.etsy.comNicole Bruno – astitchindesign.comJan Cohen – www.janzibar.net, Dana Henry, Carrie Biegler and I all took turns manning the table. Many other members had tables of their own: for example, Kate Holeman – www.theletteredset.com led a lovely workshop on stenciling and printmaking. Thanks to everyone (event organizers, workshop participants and instructors, and everyone who attended) for making this such a success!
