Saturday, April 17, 5:30-10:30pm, Handmade Philly Speaking @ Pechu Kucha Night, Studio 34, 4522 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia; Pecha Kucha Night: Philadelphia VOLUME 5; we will exercise the esoteric humors of sharing, exploring, and storytelling amongst a few Philly denizens who are making things happen in and around our fair city. Thursday, April 22, 8pm – 2am, Music 4 Murals @ Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave, Philadelphia; the goal of The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (www.muralarts.org) is to unite artists and communities through a collaborative process, rooted in the traditions of mural-making, to create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives; YAMA (Young Advocates for the Mural Arts) are trying to help this process by putting together this event; enjoy some great music – SISTERS 3, Joe Duffey and Whatevers Clever; $10 advanced tickets, $15 tickets at the door.

Saturday, April 24, Whenever there is Water: a community collaboration with George Ferrandi presented by The Fleisher Art Memorial; a night procession of illuminated sculpture through the streets of South Philly; the procession is the culminating project of Fleisher’s current artist-in-residence, George Ferrandi featuring a lit paper menagerie of lions, dogs, rabbits, squirrels and many other woodland creatures amidst cast paper representations of their respective landscapes; an illuminated boat will maneuver around glowing icebergs as luminescent jellyfish float by; the Fleisher Memorial Choir will accompany the creatures singing songs of the story they tell. http://www.fleisher.org/exhibitions/water.php.

Bambi Gallery Open Call for 2nd Bambi Biennial juried by artblog.org, Bambi Gallery, 1001 N. 2^nd St, Philadelphia, PA; all artists are encouraged to submit their work to be featured in our hip, new gallery space at The Piazza at Schmidt’s; Guest jurors will be Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof, the owners and creative minds behind Philly’s renowned Artblog (http://theartblog.org/); as a gallery connoisseur, Roberta Fallon makes art, writes about art, and claims to think about art way too much; she has written for well-known publications like Philadelphia Weekly, Artnet, Art Review, Art on Paper, Philadelphia Inquirer and Art and Auction, and has taught and been a visiting critic at Tyler School of Art, St. Joseph’s University and Cranbrook Academy of Art; Libby Rosof, her partner-in-crime, founded the award-winning publication The Penn Current at the University of Pennsylvania, and has shared her knowledge for all things art and writing by teaching at the Journalism Department at Temple University and at Tyler School of Art.
